    Applications
Important molecular regulators of vasoconstriction and all disorders associated with irregularities in blood pressure regulation, such as hypertension, renal ailments, and cirrhosis, include urotensin II and urotensin-II receptors. Recently, the metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and schizophrenia have all been linked to urotensin II and its receptor. According to recent research, Urotensin II and its receptor play a role in the initiation and progression of many epithelial malignancies. According to reports, the Urotensin II and Urotensin-II receptor axis controls cell growth, motility, and invasion in human breast, bladder, prostate, colorectal, and glioblastoma cancer cells. It also controls focal adhesion kinase and small Guanosine-5'-triphosphate binding proteins, which are likely involved in motility and invasion mediated by the Urotensin-II receptor. The customized UTS2R stable cell line can be used in antibody discovery and development, potential drug candidate screening and signaling pathway researches.

    Research Highlights

Rare UTS2R mutations were strongly linked to AIS. In AIS patients, expression of UTS2R was noticeably elevated. Further research should be done on the contribution of UTS2 signaling to the creation of AIS.

According to the available research, migraineurs may experience increased oxidative damage and an inadequate antioxidant defense system during headache attacks, which may reflect changes in lymphocyte DNA damage and oxidative/antioxidative state.
