    Applications
The epithelial Ca2+ channel known as Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid subfamily member 6 (TRPV6) is a member of the transient receptor potential (TRP) protein family. TRPV5 and TRPV6 are different from the other four TRPV channels (TRPV1-TRPV4) due to their high Ca2+-selectivity. While TRPV1 through TRPV3 are heat sensors with varying temperature thresholds for activation and TRPV4 is involved in osmolarity sensing, TRPV5 and TRPV6 are involved in Ca2+ transport. Early-onset chronic pancreatitis and transitory newborn hyperparathyroidism are associated with genetic abnormalities in the TRPV6 gene. In addition, skeletal abnormalities, osteoarthritis, Pendred syndrome, male infertility, hypercalciuria, kidney stone production, bone diseases, and some subtypes of cancer are associated with dysregulation of TRPV6. The customized TRPV6 stable cell line can be used in antibody discovery and development, potential drug candidate screening and signaling pathway researches.

    Research Highlights

In epithelial tissues, transient receptor potential vanilloid subfamily member 6 (TRPV6) channels that are selective for calcium are essential for calcium uptake. Modified expression of TRPV6 has been linked to numerous human illnesses, including cancer.

Calcium channel in the epithelium TRPV6, a member of the vanilloid subfamily of TRP channels, has inherent activity that is positively regulated by phosphoinositol and cholesterol lipids and negatively regulated by Ca2+. It is permeable to cations and highly selective to Ca2+.
