    The protein known as organic anion transporting polypeptide 1B1 is made by the SLCO1B1 gene. This protein is present in the cells of the liver; it carries substances from the blood into the liver where they are eliminated from the body.The yellowish material known as bilirubin, which is created during the breakdown of red blood cells, is transported by the protein. Bilirubin is broken down in the digestive juice known as bile in the liver and then eliminated from the body. In addition, the OATP1B1 protein carries several hormones, poisons, and medications into the liver where they are eliminated from the body. OATP1B1 protein-transported pharmaceuticals include heart disease medications, some antibiotics, some cancer treatments, and statins, which are used to treat high cholesterol. The customized SLCO1B1 stable cell line can be used in antibody discovery and development, potential drug candidate screening and signaling pathway researches.
