    Sodium/bile acid cotransporter, also termed liver bile acid transporter (LBAT) or Na+-taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide (NTCP), is a protein that is encoded by the SLC10A1 gene in humans. Symporters of sodium and bile acids take role in the enterohepatic circulation of bile acids. The reabsorption of bile acids involves two homologous transporters. Bile salts enter the liver by the cotransporter NTCP, which binds one (conjugated) bile salt molecule and two sodium ions. Thyroid hormones, steroid hormones, and other xenobiotics are among the other compounds that are delivered. The customized SLC10A1 stable cell line can be used in antibody discovery and development, potential drug candidate screening and signaling pathway researches.
