VIPR1
This gene encodes a tiny neuropeptide called vasoactive intestinal peptide, which has a receptor. Smooth muscle relaxation, exocrine and endocrine secretion, as well as water and ion flux in lung and intestine epithelia are all influenced by vasoactive intestinal peptide. It works by activating adenylate cyclase through integral membrane receptors linked to a guanine nucleotide binding protein.
