TRPV4
The transient receptor potential (TRP) superfamily of ion channels includes the OSM9-like transient receptor potential channel (OTRPC) subfamily of genes. The Ca2+-permeable, nonselective cation channel that is encoded for is thought to have a role in the control of systemic osmotic pressure. Spondylometaphyseal and metatropic dysplasia, as well as hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy type IIC, are caused by mutations in this gene.
