TRPV3
This gene encodes a member of a family of nonselective cation channels that are involved in several functions, including as vasoregulation and temperature perception. Subsets of sensory neurons that terminate in the skin express thermosensitive members of this family, which are activated at various physiological temperatures. When the temperature is between 22 and 40 degrees Celsius, this channel opens. On chromosome 17, this gene is located near to another gene belonging to the same family. It is assumed that the two encoded proteins collaborate to produce heteromeric channels.
