TRPC6
In the cell membrane, the protein that this gene codes for functions as a receptor-activated calcium channel. Diacylglycerol activates the channel, which is assumed to be governed by a phosphatidylinositol second messenger system. Low amounts of intracellular calcium do not cause this channel's activation, and it happens independently of protein kinase C. Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis 2 is brought on by errors in this gene.
