TRPC4
A member of the canonical subfamily of transient receptor potential cation channels is encoded by this gene. The encoded protein functions as a non-selective calcium-permeable cation channel that is triggered by Gq-coupled receptors and tyrosine kinases. It also affects a number of other processes, such as endothelial permeability, vasodilation, neurotransmitter release, and cell proliferation. Generalized epilepsy with photosensitivity may be related to single nucleotide polymorphisms in this gene.
