SLCO1B3
This gene encodes a member of the organic anion transporter family that is exclusive to the liver. The encoded protein is a transmembrane receptor that is essential for the transport of bile acids and bilirubin and mediates the sodium-independent absorption of endogenous and xenobiotic substances. Rotor type hyperbilirubinemia is brought on by mutations in this gene.
