SLC47A2
This gene encodes a protein that is a member of a family of transporters that is involved in the excretion of toxic electrolytes through the urine and bile, both endogenous and exogenous. The bacterial MATE (multidrug and toxin extrusion) protein family, which is responsible for drug resistance, has similarity with this transporter family. On chromosome 17, this gene is one of two MATE transporter family members that are situated close to one another.
