SCN4A
A big alpha subunit with 24 transmembrane domains and one or more regulatory beta subunits make up the transmembrane glycoprotein complexes that make up voltage-gated sodium channels. They are in charge of the production and transmission of action potentials in muscles and neurons. One sodium channel alpha subunit gene is encoded by this gene. This gene, which is expressed in skeletal muscle, has been associated to a number of myotonia and periodic paralysis illnesses.
