SCN2A
Voltage-gated sodium channels are transmembrane glycoprotein complexes made up of one or more regulatory beta subunits and a large alpha subunit with four repetition domains that each have six membrane-spanning segments. In neurons and muscle, voltage-gated sodium channels play a role in action potential production and propagation. One sodium channel alpha subunit gene is encoded by this gene. Autism spectrum disorder and seizure disorders are linked to allelic variations of this gene.
