PPARG
A nuclear receptor belonging to the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) subfamily is encoded by this gene. When PPARs and retinoid X receptors (RXRs) create heterodimers, these heterodimers control the transcription of several genes. PPAR-alpha, PPAR-delta, and PPAR-gamma are the three subtypes of PPARs that are recognized. This gene produces the PPAR-gamma protein, which controls the development of adipocytes. PPAR-gamma has also been linked to the pathology of a number of diseases, including cancer, diabetes, atherosclerosis, and obesity.
