NR3C2
The mineralocorticoid receptor, which is encoded by this gene, mediates the effects of aldosterone on water and salt balance in constrained target cells. The protein activates target genes by binding to mineralocorticoid response sites in a ligand-dependent transcription factor. Autosomal dominant pseudohypoaldosteronism type I, a condition characterized by urinary salt wasting, is brought on by mutations in this gene. Additionally, early onset hypertension with significant pregnancy-related aggravation is linked to this gene's defects.
