MLNR
The entire gastrointestinal (GI) tract expresses motilin, a 22 amino acid peptide hormone. This gene produces a motilin receptor, a protein that belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. This family member, which is a multi-pass transmembrane protein, is a crucial therapeutic target for the treatment of illnesses involving hypomotility. A Gq/11-protein-coupled receptor that mediates progastrokinetic actions is the motilin receptor. It can be found in substantial amounts throughout the smooth muscle of the upper GI tract and at its highest concentrations in the nerves of the antral wall of the stomach.
