KISS1R
This gene encodes a protein that functions as a G protein-coupled receptor that binds to the peptide metastin, which is produced by the metastasis suppressor gene KISS1. The fact that this gene appears to be involved in the onset of puberty supports the hypothesis that it is involved in the control of endocrine function based on the tissue distribution of the expressed gene. The Gq/G11 protein-coupled kisspeptin receptor transmits signals by activating phospholipase C. The neuroendocrine regulation of the gonadotrophin axis is significantly influenced by the kisspeptin receptor.
