HCAR2
Activates as a high affinity receptor for nicotinic acid and (D)-beta-hydroxybutyrate, and through G(i)-protein-mediated regulation of adenylyl cyclase, regulates increased adiponectin secretion and decreased lipolysis. Nicotinic acid levels that are far higher than those delivered by a typical diet are necessary for this pharmacological effect. mediates the apoptosis that nicotinic acid causes in mature neutrophils. When nicotinic acid activates a receptor, cAMP levels are decreased. This can have an impact on the activity of cAMP-dependent protein kinase A and the phosphorylation of target proteins, which can cause neutrophil apoptosis.
