GRPR
GRP, a potent mitogen for neoplastic tissues, controls the release of gastrointestinal hormones, the contraction of smooth muscle cells, and the proliferation of epithelial cells, among other aspects of the gastrointestinal and central nervous systems. The gastrin-releasing peptide receptor is the mechanism by which GRP has its effects. The phospholipase C signaling pathway is activated by this receptor, which is a 7-transmembrane G-protein coupled receptor that has been glycosylated. Numerous malignancies, including those of the lung, colon, and prostate, exhibit the receptor's abnormal expression. Autism and agoraphobia are two conditions connected to GRPR. Class A/1 (Rhodopsin-like receptors) and GPCR downstream signaling are two of its associated pathways. Bombesin receptor activity and G protein-coupled receptor activity are two Gene Ontology (GO) annotations connected to this gene.
