GPR151
This gene encodes an orphan G-protein-coupled receptor from the class A rhodopsin-like family. This gene belongs to the SOG subfamily of the rhodopsin-like family, which also includes the somatostatin, opioid, galanin, and kisspeptin receptors. The agonist-induced conformational shift in the receptor that activates the heterotrimeric G protein is a characteristic of all GPCR signaling. The various downstream effector proteins that the activated G protein attaches to and activates go on to produce second messengers that mediate a variety of cellular and physiological functions.
