GPR149

A member of the G protein coupled receptor (GPCR) class A family with seven transmembranes is encoded by this gene. Despite being a class A GPCR, the encoded protein lacks the first two charged amino acids of the Asp-Arg-Tyr (DRY) motif, which is crucial for effective G protein-coupled signal transduction and is located in the third transmembrane helix of class A receptors. Mice with an orthologous gene deletion are alive and develop ovarian follicles normally, however they have increased fertility and ovulation.
