This gene encodes a growth hormone-releasing hormone receptor. Growth hormone is produced and released when this hormone binds to the receptor. The condition known as Dwarfism of Sindh, which is characterized by small height, isolated growth hormone deficit (IGHD), has been linked to mutations in this gene.
