This gene encodes a glucagon receptor protein, which is crucial for managing blood sugar levels. Diabetes mellitus that is not insulin-dependent is brought on by defects in this gene (NIDDM). G-protein-coupled glucagon receptor that is essential for controlling blood glucose levels and maintaining glucose homeostasis. promotes glycogen hydrolysis and gluconeogenesis, which controls the pace of hepatic glucose synthesis. has a significant impact on how fasting-related reactions are mediated. Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) signal as a result of a conformational change brought on by ligand binding, which also affects the activity of downstream effectors such adenylate cyclase. encourages adenylate cyclase activity.
