ESR2
A member of the nuclear receptor transcription factor superfamily and the estrogen receptor family is encoded by this gene. The gene product is found in the nucleus, cytoplasm, and mitochondria and has an N-terminal DNA binding domain and a C-terminal ligand binding domain. The encoded protein creates homo- or hetero-dimers that interact with particular DNA regions to induce transcription after binding to 17beta-estradiol or similar ligands. Other members of the estrogen receptor family's function are predominately inhibited by some isoforms.
