CLCN1
There are nine members of the CLCN family of voltage-dependent chloride channel genes (CLCN1-7, Ka, and Kb), and they exhibit widely different functional traits despite having a large amount of sequence similarities. The skeletal muscle membrane's electrical excitability is controlled by the protein that this gene encodes. Recessive generalized myotonia congenita and dominant myotonia are two types of inherited human muscle illnesses that are brought on by mutations in this gene.
