CCR3
This gene encodes a protein that functions as a receptor for C-C chemokines. It is a member of G protein-coupled receptor family 1. Numerous chemokines bind to this receptor, which then reacts to them. It has been found in TH1 and TH2 cells, airway epithelial cells, and is strongly expressed in eosinophils and basophils. This receptor may help eosinophils and other inflammatory cells build up and become active in the allergic airway. It is also recognized as an HIV-1 entrance co-receptor.
