CACNA1I
The pore-forming alpha subunit of a voltage-gated calcium channel is encoded by this gene. The encoded protein belongs to the low voltage-activated, T-type calcium channel subfamily of calcium channels. Comparatively to other T-type calcium channels, this protein's channel has a slower rate of activation and inactivation. Possible applications for this protein include calcium signaling in neurons.
