A member of the immunoglobulin superfamily is encoded by this gene. The encoded protein is a receptor that transmits inhibitory signals to reduce the immune response, and it has a single immunoglobulin (Ig) domain. This gene's polymorphisms have been linked to a higher chance of developing rheumatoid arthritis.
