ASIC3
A member of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel superfamily is encoded by this gene. Amiloride-sensitive sodium channels belonging to this family have extracellular N and C termini, two hydrophobic transmembrane sections, and a large extracellular loop with several cysteine residues that are spaced evenly apart. This gene's member, an acid sensor, may be crucial in the identification of long-lasting pH alterations. Additionally, this member and acid-sensing ion channel 2 have been seen to form a heteromeric relationship, both of which are proton-gated channels that are gadolinium-sensitive.
