APLNR
The G protein-coupled receptor gene family includes APLNR. The encoded protein is linked to the angiotensin receptor but is actually an apelin receptor that blocks adenylate cyclase activity and functions as a counter-regulatory mechanism to angiotensin II's pressure-raising impact by having a hypertensive effect. It performs duties in the heart and central nervous system, glucose metabolism, embryonic development, tumor angiogenesis, and as an HIV-1 coreceptor. Its associated pathways include Class A/1 and GPCR downstream signaling (Rhodopsin-like receptors). This gene has annotations for G protein-coupled receptor activity and signaling receptor activity in the Gene Ontology (GO) database.
