AGTR2
This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family and acts as an angiotensin II receptor. Although it is sparsely expressed in adult tissues, with the exception of the brain, adrenal medulla, and atretic ovary, it is widely expressed in fetuses and newborns. It is an intergral membrane protein. It has been demonstrated that this receptor mediates programmed cell death, and this apoptotic activity may be crucial in pathophysiology and developmental biology. Non-Syndromic X-Linked Intellectual Disability and Obstructive Nephropathy are two diseases linked to AGTR2. Mitochondrial immune response to SARS-CoV-2 and GPCR downstream signaling are two of its linked pathways. This gene has annotations for G protein-coupled receptor function and peptide hormone binding in the Gene Ontology (GO) database.
