ABCG2
This gene encodes a membrane-associated protein that belongs to the ABC (ATP-binding cassette) transporter superfamily. Different substances are transported across extracellular and intracellular membranes by ABC proteins. The White subfamily includes this protein. This protein, which is also known as a breast cancer resistance protein, serves as a xenobiotic transporter and may be a key factor in multi-drug resistance. In reaction to exposure to mitoxantrone and anthracyclines, it probably acts as a cellular defense mechanism. This molecule may play a role in placenta tissue based on the significant expression of this protein that has been seen there.
