    Applications
Transporter of zinc The SLC39A6 gene in humans encodes the protein ZIP6. A vital cofactor for hundreds of enzymes is zinc. It has a role in the regulation of gene transcription, growth, development, and differentiation in addition to the metabolism of proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, and lipids. SLC39A6 is a member of a protein subfamily that exhibits zinc transporter structural traits. The customized SLC39A6 stable cell line can be used in antibody discovery and development, potential drug candidate screening and signaling pathway researches.

    Published Data

Fig.1 Knockdown of SLC39A6 inhibits cell growth and enhances cell apoptosis in vitro.

Following a 72-hour transfection of Eca-109 and EC9706 cells with either SLC39A6-siRNA or control siRNA, the cells were harvested, and total cellular protein was subjected to the recommended western blotting procedure using an anti-SLC39A6 antibody. β-actin functioned as an internal regulator.

    Research Highlights

The current study's findings indicated that SLC39A6 is linked to the growth, migration, and invasion of liver cancer and may be a viable predictive biomarker for the disease.

The underlying molecular pathways of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), a disease that is extremely deadly, are not well understood. A region within the SLC39A6 gene that confers susceptibility to ESCC has been discovered through recent extensive genome-wide association studies conducted on Chinese Han populations.
