Humans have a protein called zinc transporter 3, or solute carrier family 30 member 3, which is encoded by the SLC30A3 gene. The ZnT-3 SLC30A family membrane transport protein is encoded by the SLC30A3 gene. Zinc ion accumulation inside synaptic vesicles requires ZnT-3. Certain types of memory in mice that rely on the hippocampus and amygdala require ZnT-3. Zinc transport by ZnT-3 acts via the extracellular signal-regulated kinases signaling pathway to affect memory formation. Down-regulation of ZnT-3 and ZnT-10 is necessary for the senescence of vascular smooth muscle cells brought on by angiotensin II. The customized SLC30A3 stable cell line can be used in antibody discovery and development, potential drug candidate screening and signaling pathway researches.
