    Applications
The human gene PTGER2 encodes PTGER2, a 53 kDa prostaglandin receptor for prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). In humans, PTGER2 is widely distributed. The human small intestine, lung, uterus, thymus, cerebral cortex, corneal epithelium, and other organs all express it. The PTGER2 receptor performs a number of tasks. Rodents, cats, rhesus monkeys, and humans all saw a reduction in intraocular pressure when the PTGER2 receptor was topically given to their eyes. This effect appears to be caused, at least in part, by PTGER2. According to studies, female mice that have been genetically altered to be deficient in the PTGER2 gene have a mildly reduced rate of ovulation and a significantly reduced ability to become pregnant. Additionally, PTGER2 activation affects allergy and inflammatory responses. The PTGER2 receptor can also stimulate tumor growth. Additionally, following exposure to carcinogens, lung, breast, skin, and colon cancers are less common in PTGER2 gene knockout mice. The customized PTGER2 stable cell line can be used in antibody discovery and development, potential drug candidate screening and signaling pathway researches.

Fig.1 EP2 interacts with CTR in OV3121 cell line.

Expression of Ptger2 and Calcr mRNA in OV3121 cells. From OV3121 cells, total RNA was extracted. First strand cDNA was then created using reverse transcriptase (RT+) or without it (RT-), and RT-PCR was conducted.

    Research Highlights

The prostaglandin E2 receptor 2 (PTGER2) is found in the endometrium, and endometrial expansion is associated by PTGER2 gene expression. Cattle endometrial PTGER2 activation could promote the expression of VEGF, CTGF, TGF-β1, and IL-8 genes, leading to endometrial healing.

By controlling the methylation of prostaglandin E receptor 2 (PTGER2) and obstructing TGF-β signaling, HA-Cur dramatically reduced the fibrotic activities of myofibroblast in joint contracture in vitro. In addition to offering a molecular target for therapy during the etiology of joint contracture, this may offer a mechanism for the treatment of joint contracture.
