    Applications
Nucleotides such as extracellular ATP, ADP, UTP, UDP, and UDP-glucose stimulate P2RY1, which serves as a receptor. Eight P2Y receptors have so far been cloned in humans, and they play a key role in the prejunctional inhibitory control of transmitter release and cell proliferation. According to reports, P2RY1 is important for platelet physiology. In platelets, binding to ADP causes phospholipase C to be activated, mobilizing intracellular Ca2+, changing the shape of the platelet, and likely leading to platelet aggregation. According to pharmacological data, the circulating platelets include a variety of ADP-recognizing receptors, including P2RY1, P2RY12, and P2X1. On enteric neurons, P2RY1 seems to be the dominant subtype. The customized P2RY1 stable cell line can be used in antibody discovery and development, potential drug candidate screening and signaling pathway researches.

    Research Highlights

The P2RY1 receptor activates the ERK signal pathway, which is known to induce cancer, although its DNA methylation state and associated regulation mechanism are yet unknown. This work profiled the genome-wide DNA methylation level in stomach cancer samples using the DNA methylation chip.

In a Polish community, this study discovered a probable role for uncommon variations in the P2RY1 and P2RY12 genes implicated in platelet reactivity.
