    Applications
The INSR gene codes for the production of an insulin receptor protein, which is present in a variety of cell types. Insulin receptors bind to the insulin hormone that circulates in the bloodstream and are implanted in the outer membrane of the cell. When the insulin receptor is first made, it is a single, lengthy protein that needs to be divided into two alpha and two beta subunits in order to be processed. Together, these subunits form a functional receptor. While the beta subunits stay inside the cell, the alpha subunits protrude from the cell's surface. When the alpha subunits bind to insulin, the beta subunits initiate cellular signaling pathways that affect a variety of cellular processes. The customized INSR stable cell line can be used in antibody discovery and development, potential drug candidate screening and signaling pathway researches.

    Published Data

Fig.1 Expression of the insulin receptor (INSR) on human myeloma cell lines.

Pearson's correlation analyses were conducted to examine the relationships between the expression of the INSR gene, as measured by real-time reverse transcriptase-PCR (RT-PCR), and the Affymetrix probe set 226450_at, as well as the INSR detection using FACS analysis. GAPDH was utilized to standardize real-time RT-PCR results, and XG-6 HMCL was employed as a reference.
