    Applications
In order to increase the production of the intracellular second messenger cAMP, activated HTR7 can encourage the activation of adenylate cyclase. The receptor is particularly expressed in the hippocampus, hypothalamus, and cortex of the brain. It can boost synaptogenesis in forebrain neurons, enhance dendritic spine density, and control neurotransmission. A number of biological functions, including thermoregulation, circadian rhythm, mood, learning and memory, and sleep, have been linked to HTR7, according to earlier research. As a result, HTR7 may be a viable therapeutic target for the treatment of a number of clinical diseases, including anxiety, depression, and cognitive impairments as well as sleep and circadian rhythmicity problems. Additionally, mood problems and significant cognitive deficiencies may be treated with HTR7 antagonists. Additionally, current research indicates that HTR7 controls inflammatory response. The customized HTR7 stable cell line can be used in antibody discovery and development, potential drug candidate screening and signaling pathway researches.

    Fig.1 5-HTR7 mRNA expression levels.

The impact of 100 mg/kg ketamine administration on 5-HTR7 mRNA expression levels in the hippocampal region. With the help of quantitative real-time PCR analysis, gene expression was found. The housekeeping gene control beta-actin was used to standardize the results.
