    Applications
The ESRRG gene in humans encodes the nuclear receptor known as estrogen-related receptor gamma (ERR-gamma), or NR3B3. This protein belongs to the family of steroid hormone receptors known as nuclear hormone receptors. The orphan receptor lacks a physiological activating ligand; nonetheless, inverse agonists such as diethylstilbestrol and 4-hydroxytamoxifen deactivate ESRRG. Variations in bisphenol A effects could be explained by varying ERR-γ expression in different body areas. For example, observations of excessive bisphenol A accumulation in the placenta may be explained by the high quantity of ERR-γ detected there. The customized ESRRG stable cell line can be used in antibody discovery and development, potential drug candidate screening and signaling pathway researches.
