    Applications
The enzyme calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase kinase 2 is encoded by the CAMKK2 gene in humans. The gene's product is a member of the Ca++/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase subfamily and the serine/threonine-specific protein kinase family. By phosphorylating the downstream kinases CaMK1 and CaMK4, this protein contributes to the calcium/calmodulin-dependent (CaM) kinase cascade by enhancing their catalytic activity. CaMKK2 is an AMPK kinase in the hypothalamus that controls the synthesis of the hormone neuropeptide Y, which stimulates appetite. Through the downregulation of mu opioid receptors and the decrease of downstream signaling pathways, it also plays a significant role in the development of hyperalgesia and tolerance to opioid analgesic medications. The customized CAMKK2 stable cell line can be used in antibody discovery and development, potential drug candidate screening and signaling pathway researches.

    Published Data

Fig.1 CaMKK2 is expressed in mammary tumor-associated stromal cells

Although there was a strong positive association found between the expression of CaMKK2 in tumors and stromal cells, overexpression of the protein did not correlate with the grade of the tumor. CaMKK2 may therefore have both intrinsic and extrinsic effects on tumor pathobiology in cancer cells.

    Research Highlights

Understanding the ways in which Ca(2+)/CaM-dependent signaling affects metabolic balance and illness requires a grasp of this information.

Skeletal health declines as a result of oxidative stress, inflammation, and the buildup of advanced glycation endproducts (AGEs) brought on by age and metabolic diseases. In these circumstances, bone loses some of its ability to regenerate and becomes more prone to fractures.
