SSTR5
By interacting with somatostatin receptors, somatostatin and the related peptide cortistatin have a variety of biological effects on both normal and tumoral tissue targets. One of the SSTRs, a multi-pass membrane protein that is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family, is the protein that is produced by this gene. Different sections of this receptor molecule are necessary for the activation of various signaling pathways. This receptor's action is mediated by G proteins that block adenylyl cyclase. Somatostatin analog resistance is brought on by a mutation in this gene.
