NTSR2
This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the family of G protein-coupled receptors that triggers the phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger pathway. Studies on binding and pharmacology show that this receptor binds neurotensin as well as a number of additional ligands that have already been mentioned for the neurotensin NT1 receptor. Levocabastine, a histamine H1 receptor antagonist that has previously been demonstrated to compete with neurotensin for low-affinity binding sites in the brain, is recognized by this gene with high affinity in contrast to the NT1 receptor. These actions imply that the receptor may be physiologically significant and that the receptor may have a natural agonist.
