MCHR1
This gene encodes a G protein-coupled receptor family 1 protein, a component of the plasma membrane that binds melanin-concentrating hormone. The encoded protein, which is likely implicated in the neural regulation of food intake, has the ability to suppress cAMP buildup and enhance intracellular calcium flux. This protein does not appear to bind somatostatin, despite sharing a structural resemblance with somatostatin receptors.
