CCR9
This gene encodes a beta chemokine receptor family member, a G protein-coupled receptor with seven transmembrane domains. In both normal and inflammatory situations, chemokines and their receptors play a critical role in controlling thymocyte migration and maturation. The interaction of this gene with chemokine 25 promotes intestinal intra-epithelial lymphocyte homing to the small intestine, and it is differently expressed in T lymphocytes of the small intestine and colon. This shows that this gene has a function in coordinating immune responses to various parts of the digestive tract. This gene is overexpressed in a variety of malignant tumors and is strongly linked to tumor growth, apoptosis, invasion, migration, and treatment resistance. Chemokine 25 is the gene's sole ligand.
