    Applications
PRKD1 (Protein Kinase D1) has been implicated in various biological processes and diseases. In lung adenocarcinoma, miR-375, a microRNA, has been found to promote cisplatin sensitivity and apoptosis of cancer cells, with PRKD1 identified as one of its target genes. This suggests that PRKD1 may play a role in the development of cisplatin resistance in lung adenocarcinoma. In polymorphous adenocarcinoma, specifically the cribriform subtype, gene fusions involving PRKD1 have been identified, highlighting its involvement in the pathogenesis of this salivary gland carcinoma. Additionally, PRKD1 has been identified as a potential drug target for heart failure, as genetic variants associated with heart failure risk have been found in the PRKD1 gene. In Youzhou Dark goats, PRKD1 has been identified as a candidate gene associated with coat color. Finally, a novel STRN3::PRKD1 fusion has been identified in a cribriform adenocarcinoma of the salivary gland, expanding the genetic spectrum of this tumor type. Overall, PRKD1 appears to be involved in various cellular processes and diseases, including cancer, heart failure, and coat color in goats.
