    Applications
The human HIPK1 gene encodes the enzyme homodomain-interacting protein kinase 1. The protein that this gene encodes is a member of the HIPK subfamily and the Ser/Thr family of protein kinases. It may potentially operate as a co-repressor of homeodomain transcription factors in addition to phosphorylating them. Four different transcript variants encoding four different isoforms are produced by alternative splicing. The customized HIPK1 stable cell line can be used in antibody discovery and development, potential drug candidate screening and signaling pathway researches.

    Published Data

Fig.1 HIPK1 knockdown reduces tumorigenic activity of A549 lung carcinoma cells.

Cell lines originating from A549 were created and induced to express HIPK1 short hairpin RNA (shRNA). Western blotting was performed after lysing parental A549 cells and A549-derived cell lines (shcontrol, shHIPK1#1 and #2).

    Research Highlights

It has recently come to light that HIPKs and associated miRNAs play a role in the development of cervical cancer, diabetic nephropathy, gastric cancer chemoresistance, and the expression of recombinant proteins in cultured cells.

Reduced HIPK1 in ALI had protective effects in reducing oxidative stress and inflammation while boosting autophagy, suggesting HIPK1 as a potential target in the treatment of ALI.
