Fig.1 BRSK1-mediated regulation of cisplatin sensitivity is dependent on its enzymatic activity.
Representative cisplatin dose-response curves in cisplatin-resistant and normal HeLa cells transduced with shCtrl or shBRSK1 (targeting 3' UTR), then infected with a plasmid expressing either the enzymatically inactive mutant BRSK1-K59A or wild-type BRSK1.

Research Highlights
Because they participate in inflammation and apoptosis, urine and peripheral blood miR-195-5p, miR-192-3p, and miR-328-5p, together with their target genes PPM1A, RAB1A, and BRSK1, may be possible biomarkers for membranous nephropathy.

The results of this work show that the TSG genes BRSK1 and EGR1 carry frameshift mutations in GC and MSI-H CRC, together with mutational ITH, which may be characteristics of GC and CRC with MSI-H. These findings imply that TSG inactivation in CRC and GC may be a mechanism by which frameshift mutations in EGR1 and BRSK1 contribute to carcinogenesis.
