Creative Biolabs' Membrane Dyes and Reagents
Membrane dyes and reagents from Creative Biolabs are a collection of specialized fluorophores that quickly stain the outer plasma membranes of living cells. They stand out from other membrane stains in that their surface staining can endure permeabilization and methanol fixation, enabling the combination of plasma membrane labeling and intracellular antibody staining.
Our amine-reactive membrane dyes and reagents are made to collect at the cell membrane and bind covalently to membrane proteins there. In contrast to formaldehyde fixation alone, surface staining is thus effectively preserved following permeabilization or methanol fixation, with barely any rise in intracellular fluorescence. When membranes are stained, membrane dyes that are just moderately fluorescent in aqueous environments become extremely luminous. Due of the dyes' fluorogenic properties, the staining is extremely selective and has little background.
