Like other sulforhodamine dyes, the highly water-soluble sulforhodamine B can be used as a polar tracer to study cell morphology and neural cell-cell communication. Sulforhodamine B has also been shown to be an excellent protein stain for usage in cultured cells to assess cellular proteins.
